Barolo Wine
Often called the King of Wine, Barolo is arguably the most famous of Italy’s wines.
Although Barolo is a specific commune in the Piedmont region, the wine can come from any of the 11 recognised communes forming the DOCG (Denominazione di origine controllata). These villages are: Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d’Alba, Cherasco, Diano d’Alba, Grinzane Cavour, La Morra, Monforte d’Alba, Novello, Roddi and Verdun Each has it’s own specific style of Barolo.
Produced from the Nebbiolo grape it’s one of the first varieties to bud and the last to ripen, with harvest taking place in mid-to-late October. The shortest ageing time for the wine is 3 years
